YAMOUSSOUKRO: OPENING CEREMONY OF THE 25TH EDITION OF THE IVORY COAST GOLF OPEN

To mark a memorable milestone of passion, competition, and excellence in Ivorian golf, the opening ceremony of the 25th edition of the Côte d'Ivoire International Golf Open was held this Monday, September 22, 2025, at the Yamoussoukro Golf Hotel. The event was sponsored by the Minister and Governor of the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District, Dr. Augustin Thiam.
This event was attended by numerous dignitaries, including administrative, political, diplomatic, and traditional authorities, as well as several golfers.
To open the ceremony, the President of the Ivorian Golf Federation, Mr. EBAH Basile, welcomed all the authorities present. He recalled that it was in 1980 that President Félix Houphouët-Boigny launched the first edition of the Golf Open in Côte d'Ivoire, with the aim of demonstrating that the Ivorian nation was one of the great golf nations in the world.
He also praised the commitment of the Minister and Governor, who, by agreeing to sponsor this edition, honors and encourages the federation to maintain this momentum of success for Ivorian golf. Mr. EBAH also reaffirmed his commitment to making Yamoussoukro a shining city on the international stage and symbolically presented the Golf Open trophy to the Minister and Governor.
Following this speech, Mr. Serge Kobenan, President of the Organizing Committee, presented the program and the major innovations of this 25th edition.
Speaking, Minister and Governor Dr. Augustin Thiam expressed his thanks to the Ivorian Golf Federation for perpetuating the name and memory of President Félix Houphouët-Boigny. He stated that it is an honor for him to be the guardian of this prestigious trophy and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting the influence of golf in Côte d'Ivoire, and particularly in Yamoussoukro.
