DEPUTIES OF THE AFRICAN GROUP TO SUPPORT NEGOTIATORS EXPERTS (AGNES) IN HEARING WITH THE MINISTER GOVERNOR DOCTOR AUGUSTIN THIAM
Previously meeting in Abidjan, as part of the discussions on climate change, the deputies members of the African Support Group for Expert Negotiators (AGNES) and the commissions in charge of the environment in Côte d'Ivoire and various countries of Africa including Togo, South Sudan, Mali, Tanzania, the Republic of Guinea, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Gabon and Congo-Brazzaville traveled to the political capital of the Coast d'Ivoire, Tuesday September 3, 2024, in order to discover the architectural wonders it possesses. Therefore, the delegation led by the honorable Emile GUIRIEOULOU, president of the research, science, technology and environment committee of the National Assembly of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, presented its courtesy to the Minister, Governor Doctor Augustin THIAM at the Félix Houphouët-Boigny Foundation for the Search for Peace of Yamoussoukro. In his capacity as Chief of the Akouè canton and descendant of the first President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, Doctor Augustin THIAM explained the origin of the name of the town, then a part of the history of the Houphouët-Boigny family while specifying that the Baoulé community is governed by matriarchy. Subsequently, the Minister, Governor accompanied the parliamentarians to the residence of the late President Félix Houphouët-Boigny. This visit rich in anecdotes allowed us to better discover the history, genealogy, benefits and generosity of the first president of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire.
