YAMOUSSOUKRO: CEREMONY FOR THE 66TH ANNIVERSARY OF IVORY COAST'S INDEPENDENCE

“A nation grows when its sons and daughters celebrate, in unity, the values ​​that underpin its history and its future.” As part of the celebrations for the 66th anniversary of Côte d'Ivoire's independence, the Minister and Governor of the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District, Dr. Augustin Thiam, accompanied by the District Directors, participated in the official festivities held on Friday, August 7, 2026, on the esplanade opposite Yamoussoukro City Hall.
This ceremony brought together administrative, political, military, traditional, and religious authorities, as well as numerous members of the public who came to celebrate this important national holiday in a spirit of patriotism and unity.

On this occasion, Mr. Gando Coulibaly, Prefect of the Yamoussoukro municipality, welcomed all the dignitaries and guests. In his address, he recalled that this celebration symbolizes the Ivorian people's commitment to the values ​​of sovereignty, peace, unity, and social cohesion. He concluded by extending his best wishes for a happy Independence Day to all Ivorians.
Continuing the festivities, the Minister-Governor was invited by the master of ceremonies to present trophies and t-shirts to the winning teams of the football tournament organized as part of this commemoration.
The ceremony then continued with the official parade of the Defense and Security Forces, followed by the various socio-professional and community groups of the city, thus illustrating the unity, discipline, and spirit of living together that characterize the Ivorian nation. It was in an atmosphere imbued with patriotic fervor and conviviality that this celebration of the 66th anniversary of Côte d'Ivoire's independence came to a close.
