OFFICIAL LAUNCH CEREMONY OF THE RADIO "WIA FM"

The official launch of "WIA FM" Radio, the new station in the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District, took place this Friday, June 27, 2025, at 100 Boys' Housing, Block 25, the location where the radio station is located.
In a friendly and solemn atmosphere, the ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister and Governor of the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District, Dr. Augustin Thiam, the Vice-Governors, members of the District, and religious leaders.

The ceremony began with prayers offered by Mr. Keaseiboh, Secretary General of the Yamoussoukro Pastors' Collective, on behalf of the Christians, and by Mr. Sylla Moussa, representing Imam Seydou Sylla of the Great Mosque, on behalf of the Muslim community.
Mr. Kouadio Raphael, Chief of Staff, then introduced the radio team of eight (8) people and their positions. The discovery of the radio logo followed with the name "WIA FM", the slogan "É NANAN WIA KPAN É DISTRICT SU", which means in Baoulé language, "THE SUN SHINES ON THE DISTRICT" and its frequency which is 98.5.
After this presentation, the Minister took the floor and explained that the name WIA, which means "sun" in Baoulé, was the nickname of the first President of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire, Félix Houphouët Boigny. This nickname was given to him by his older sister because, for her, Félix Houphouët Boigny was the sun of the world. He wanted this radio station to shine like the sun, which is why he named it "WIA FM."

He then expressed his sincere thanks to everyone for agreeing to give up their precious time to take part in the official launch ceremony of the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District Radio. Your distinguished presence at this ceremony can undoubtedly enhance it. Much more than just an essential local communication tool, the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District Radio is part of a context of decentralization of information and citizen participation in local affairs. Thus, for the Communications Department, for the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District, and for the population, our community radio will, broadly speaking, play its crucial role as an accelerator of sustainable local development. He expressed himself.
The Communications Department salutes the enlightened leadership of Minister Augustin Thiam, Governor; a visionary and architect of local sustainable development, whose vision led to the establishment of this radio station, which strengthens and promotes local communication in the Yamoussoukro Autonomous District constituency.
The official launch ceremony for WIA radio concluded with a ribbon cutting, followed by a tour of the premises, and finally a press briefing.
